Harvest: Early April
Picking standard: One bud + two young leaves
Processing: Plucking → Withering → Drying
Bai Mu Dan is a traditional Fuding white tea produced from a combination of silvery buds and the first young leaves of the spring growth.
Unlike Silver Needle, which concentrates primarily on buds, White Peony includes more mature leaf material. This changes both its chemistry and its sensory profile: the tea generally has more body, broader aromatics and a more pronounced fruit and dried-herb character.
Processing is deliberately minimal. Fresh material is withered to gradually reduce moisture and allow slow biochemical transformation before final drying. There is no rolling stage and no deliberate oxidation stage comparable to red tea or oolong.
Our White Peony is traditionally sun-dried. The dry material contains plump silver-haired buds alongside sage-green young leaves.
It can be consumed young for its fresh floral character or stored under suitable conditions, during which its aroma and texture gradually evolve.
