ALON LOTRINGER - Phantasmagoria Album Listening Session with Alon Lotringer & Lowswing Records

On Sunday, September 20, we’re inviting you to a special afternoon of deep listening, analogue sound and Chinese tea with singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Alon Lotringer.

For this session, Alon himself will join us at Tea & Vinyl House to present and play his new album, Phantasmagoria, on vinyl. Before we listen, he’ll introduce the record in his own words — sharing the story behind its creation, the recording process and some of the ideas and experiences that shaped the music.

Then we’ll listen to the album together, from beginning to end, with Alon in the room.

Phantasmagoria is Lotringer’s new album on Berlin-based Lowswing Records, following his acclaimed In Light. The eight-song record emerged after a five-year return to Lowswing and reflects on intimate relationships as well as broader events in the world — moving through themes of reflection, loss and renewal.

Lotringer’s music resists easy categorisation, moving between cinematic songwriting, rock, folk, R&B and more experimental textures. On Phantasmagoria, he performs vocals, bass, guitars and keyboards, joined by drummer Earl Harvin and guitarist Daníel Friðrik Böðvarsson, with orchestral arrangements by Lowswing founder Guy Sternberg.

The album also reflects Lowswing’s dedication to analogue recording. The Berlin label records and mixes to analogue tape and cuts directly to vinyl, avoiding digital conversion in the process.

For us, this is exactly what a listening session should be: not simply hearing a record, but hearing it together with the person who made it.

After the focused listening, we’ll continue with tea, selected music and conversation — giving everyone a chance to talk with Alon, exchange impressions and spend a slow Sunday afternoon together.
