UNTECHCIRCLE - DYING LIGHT

An intimate evening exploring the emotional depths of experimental electronic music through deep listening and traditional Chinese tea.

For this session, our resident curator Fabian Peltsch presents Dying Light by Untechcircle, the project of young Chinese electronic producer Chen Jinkang.

On Dying Light, Chen Jinkang explores existence, memory, and transience. Drawing on personal moments of crisis, he creates electronic soundscapes that capture the fleeting moments when the apparent stability of life begins to fracture.

Intense, introspective, and deeply personal, Dying Light invites us into an emotional landscape where electronic textures become a form of expression and reflection.

Unlike our more meditative listening sessions, this evening offers a more challenging and focused experience — an opportunity to sit with unfamiliar sounds, explore difficult emotions, and discover the power of listening without distraction.

Before the session, Fabian will introduce the artist and the album, inviting everyone to put away their phones, pause conversations, and dedicate the next hour entirely to music.

Throughout the evening, we'll serve carefully selected Chinese teas, creating space for reflection, conversation, and connection.

ABOUT FABIAN PELTSCH

Fabian Peltsch is a Berlin-based journalist, music writer, and one of Tea & Vinyl's resident curators.

He previously worked as a music journalist for Rolling Stone and currently serves as an editor at Table.Briefings, a German publication specialising in politics and current affairs.

With his background in music journalism and a deep curiosity for sounds beyond the mainstream, Fabian brings thoughtful context and fresh perspectives to our listening sessions, introducing audiences to artists and recordings they might not otherwise discover.

EVENING FLOW

18:00–18:30 — Arrival & Welcome Tea Settle into the space, enjoy Chinese tea, and connect with fellow listeners.

18:30–19:30 — Deep Listening: Untechcircle — Dying Light Introduction by Fabian Peltsch, followed by a focused listening experience without conversations or phones.

19:30–21:00 — Tea, Vinyl & Conversation Reflect on the music, exchange impressions, and enjoy a further selection of sounds curated by Fabian.
