NALA SINEPHRO - SPACE 1.8 Deep Listening with Christian Bachmann

For our next deep listening session with Christian Bachmann, we turn to Space 1.8 — the debut album by Caribbean-Belgian composer, producer and musician Nala Sinephro.

Moving between ambient, spiritual jazz and experimental electronic music, the album unfolds slowly through modular synthesizers, pedal harp, saxophone, piano, drums and other acoustic textures.

Rather than following conventional song structures, Space 1.8 feels like entering a continuous sonic environment — spacious, weightless and deeply meditative.

For the central part of the evening, we’ll listen to the album together from beginning to end, with conversation put aside and attention given entirely to the music.

Christian Bachmann will introduce the record and share some context around Nala Sinephro and the world surrounding the album.

Afterwards, we’ll return to tea and conversation, followed by a vinyl selection from Christian, moving outward from the atmosphere of Space 1.8 — ambient, jazz, experimental music and other records connected through mood rather than genre.

As always, the evening will be accompanied by selected Chinese tea.
