TEA & DEEP LISTENING WITH GIONATAN SCALI

We’re very happy to welcome Gionatan Scali back to Tea & Vinyl.

Our first session together was something special: three hours of almost complete silence, travelling through different genres, places and moods through sound. Somewhere along the way, listening became almost meditative — and by the end of the session, the room was full of quiet smiles.

All of this accompanied, as always, by tea.

On October 10, we invite Gionatan back for another three-hour journey through his eclectic vinyl collection — without a predetermined genre or destination. A space to slow down, put conversation aside for a while and allow the music to lead.

Gionatan Scali is a Turin-born musician, activist and visual artist, previously based in East London and now relocating to Berlin. Alongside his own musical practice — including three albums and an EP, most recently Best Self — he has developed a series of experimental listening sessions and live sets combining analogue instruments, field recordings, tape manipulation and vinyl.

His listening sessions have taken him to some of London’s most respected listening bars and cultural spaces, including Spiritland, Jumbi, 180 Strand and Next Door Records, as well as venues in Paris, Berlin and Brussels.

His selections move freely between genres, eras and geographies, guided by curiosity rather than categories. Expect unexpected connections, subtle transitions and a journey that gradually reveals itself through attentive listening.

Throughout the session, we’ll prepare and share a selection of Chinese teas in the Gong Fu Cha tradition.
